The First Chair's clean frame incorporates both linear geometry and organic forms, coupling two pieces of solid wood — one steam-bent and the other carved — for its combined back and armrests. Matching multiple pieces of wood with their own unique grain patterns into presents an aesthetic challenge, which designer Hans Wegner solved through the distinctive joint details of wengé. 

Available with with a paper cord seat (PP201), or upholstered with fabric or leather (PP203).
